Last weekend, we went for an overnight trip to Banaras. Throughout the trip, I kept joking that after the trip I was going to adopt an Athlete Mindset. The joke was essentially using the idea of adopting an Athlete Mindset to excuse any excesses I was indulging in.
It was one of those half-jokes. Yes, I wanted to eat healthier and get fitter and was, in that moment, totally committed to putting in the effort required. But “Athlete” is a hyperbole by a half.
We got back from the trip, and I fell seriously unwell. I had to take the entire week off from work and from all physical activity. Now that the idea of the “Athlete Mindset” didn’t materialise, I continued to pig out. I ate more junk in what was supposed to be my first week of clean eating, just because I didn’t meet the obviously ridiculous standard of being an athlete.
The idea was to write something every day. The aim was to write a full blog post’s worth in half an hour. That didn’t happen, so I gave up the entire thing altogether.
New mindset is to be project-oriented. Let’s close key projects, and if things don’t work out neatly—well, too bad. It doesn’t have to be pretty; it just has to get done.
Let’s write everyday. Doesn’t have to be 500 word blogs. Just a tweet’s worth of words would be enough to call it something. But the idea will be to write 144 things this year. And there are only 144 days left this year.
Just Get It Done Mindset.
